Remote Instruction Strategies for Summer Sessions Instructors

Intended audience:
GSI, Instructors, Summer Sessions
All Summer Sessions courses will be conducted in a remote instruction format this summer. How does that change how you will teach your course? In this virtual training we will discuss strategies for how to approach remote instruction, focusing on:
  • defining the difference between asynchronous and synchronous instruction;

  • demonstrating how to develop your bCourses site as your virtual classroom;

  • examining assignment, exam, and discussion options available in bCourses; and

  • showing how to access and use remote instruction resources available to all Summer Sessions instructors.

This session will highlight topics that are covered with greater depth in the Remote Instruction Guide, a self-enrollment course available to all Summer Sessions instructors on bCourses. It’s recommended that you join the course and review it before the session. You can access the course via the following self-enrollment link: https://bcourses.berkeley.edu/enroll/AJMHL8

Please note that this session will not cover the basics of how to use Zoom. You can sign up for a Zoom training session via the DLS Consultation Calendar."
