DIY Media Getting Started

Get Started with DIY Media

To use the Dwinelle DIY Media Studio or the Berkeley Way West Studio (only for users in the School of Public Health and Graduate School of Education)for recording video, audio, and/or screen:

  1. Check the schedule below to ensure the time you would like is available in the studio.
  2. Request Studio Time.  If you have never used the Studio before we will provide an equipment and software orientation at the beginning of your reserved time; please book an extra half hour for your first session to allow time for this orientation. (Please give us one business day to respond to your request. Though we sometimes may be able to respond to requests with less than a business day's lead time, we cannot guarantee this.)

Note: Orientations (scheduled for the first half hour of your first booking) provide an introduction to the hardware and software in the DIY Media Studio and Workstations, as well as basic procedures for use. If you have more extensive needs--are unsure of whether the project you have in mind is a good match for the facilities provided by the DIY Media service, need help planning a video project that you believe you will be doing without professional video services, or require guidance regarding tool selection or advanced usage of tools--please schedule a consultation.

To use the DIY Media Workstations for editing media content (whether created in the DIY Media Studio or elsewhere): simply come to the Academic Innovation Studio (AIS), located at 117 Dwinelle Hall. At this time, the workstations are available on a first-come, first-served basis, during all open AIS hours.
